It's believed to be hybrid of the cabbage and the turnip,
was probably developed in Bohemia in the 17th century.
 | BUYING AND STORAGE

Choose firm, clean swedes and heavy for its size.
Avoid soft and old-looking swedes. Store in the refrigerator wrapped
in the plastic bag and will last up to 1 week.
 | PREPARATION AND USE
|
Wash and peel off outer skin. Cut into chunky
pieces, can be boil, microwave and mashed. Use in soups, stews,
casseroles, and pancakes.
