DESCRIPTION
Similar to a persimmon in size and shape, could be either yellow or dark green
skin and full of soft pasty sweet dark chocolate to white flesh depending on the variety.
HISTORY AND ORIGIN
Native to Central America. Literally called the 'sweet tasting fruit'.
BUYING AND STORAGE
Buy well-shaped undamaged fruit. Store at room temperature until the skin turns
dark green colour and is soft to touch. Store in the refrigerator when ripe and will last
for 1 week.
PREPARATION AND USE
Cut fruit in half and serve fresh in hand with a teaspoon. The flesh is great for
making sauces or added to ice cream.
