Rockmelon could be round or oval shape fruit with a corky netted texture on a
golden to dark brown skin. The flesh is golden orange in colour, in some variety it could
be green with flat white seeds.
 | HISTORY AND ORIGIN
|
Cultivated in Italy name after the town Cantalupo in the 18th century.
 | BUYING AND STORAGE
|
Choose firm, yellow or golden coloured Rockmelon with a sweet fragrance at the
stalk end and slightly soft at the blossom end.
Store in the refrigerator. Once cut use within a few days.
 | PREPARATION AND USE
|
Cut in half and remove the seeds. Peel and slice or cube. Serve with ice cream or
used in fruit salad and to use as a garnish in seafood or meat dish.
