DESCRIPTION

Sometimes is known the 'Queen of Fruit'. The colour of the flesh can be yellow, orange or white and the skin can be fury. One of the most fragile fruit to handle.

HISTORY AND ORIGIN

Originated in china and was recorded somewhere in the 500 BC. Some chinese families placed peach branches outside their front doors to warned off evil spirit and as symbol of longevity and immorality.

BUYING AND STORAGE

Choose firm, well-shaped, fragrant peaches. Hold peaches in the palm of your hand and press gently to feel for ripeness (do not use finger for pressing because it damaged the looks of the fruit.) Store in refrigerator when ripe and will keep up to 3 days. If still hard store at room temperature.

PREPARATION AND USE

Wash and use fresh. To peel easily, dip into boiling water for 30 seconds. Serve as a dessert or use in stew, poach or bake. Can be used to make jams.
