It's a round fruit and have a variety of skin colour. Contains a sweet pulp and edible seeds.

BUYING AND STORAGE

Choose large heavy passionfruit with good to slightly wrinkle skin. Wrinkle on the skin indicates ripeness. Store at room temperature but refrigerate when the skin starts to wrinkle and will keep up to a few weeks. Can be freezed.

PREPARATION AND USE

Cut in half and eat the pulp and seeds fresh. Great to make passionfruit drinks and great for fruit salad. Ideal for pavlovas and cakes.

VARIETY

BANANA:    A long egg-shaped fruit with a yellow green colour skin.


GOLDEN/
HAWAIIAN:   Orange-brown skin contains sweet transparent white pulp.


PURPLE:    This is a small round fruit, purple black skin contains yellow pulp and edible black seeds. One of the most popular to buy.


MARACOYAS:
Also call Yellow Passionfruit. Has a thick yellow skin when ripen, taste sharper than a passionfruit and less aromatic.


GRANADILLAS: The largest member of passionfuit, raw Granadillas are use as vegetable, when ripe there have a smooth round orange skin with greyish pulp.


CURUBA: Also call Banana Passionfruit. Is an elongated passionfruit with soft yellow skin. The skin can be peel off like a Banana and has a sharp flavour.
