DESCRIPTION

Nashi fruit is a member of the pear family. It is round in shape and size of an apple, has the flavour of a pear with a smooth, green-yellow skin depending on the type of variety. The flesh inside this fruit is crisp, crystal-like texture and it has a very delicate flavour and it gives a lot of refreshing clear juice.

A native fruit of Japan, Korea and China.

BUYING AND STORAGE

Select firm Nashi Pear with a fragrant aroma. Also feel for the weight of the fruit as it ensure the contents of the juice it produce. The more juice it contains the better it taste. They are ripe when still hard.
Refrigerate Nashi Pears in the vegetable crisper. Will be able to keep up to 1 weeks.

PREPARATION AND USE

Wash and eat fresh in hand like most other fruits. Remove the core, then cut into thin wedges and serve on the fruit platter or even diced and added to the fruit salad.

VARIETY

NASHI:  Similar to Tientsin Pear but has an apple shape.

TIENTSIN: Pear shape and has a yellow, slightly speckled with brown dots and white flesh.

ASIAN:  Crunchy texture similar to apples
