Similar to Lychee, which has a yellow-brown leathery skin. It has a small round transparent flesh with a brown seed.

HISTORY AND ORIGIN

The Longan is known as the little brother of the Lychee and is a native to the Asia country. Longan is the chinese name translated to Dragon's eye.

BUYING AND STORAGE

Choose evenly coloured fruit with moist skin, avoid dry and chaff skin.
Refrigerate in vegetable crisper and will keep up to 2 weeks.

PREPARATION AND USE

Cracked skin by pressing, eat fresh or in fruit salad. Great for soup, chinese sweet and sour dishes.
