Lemon Verbena is a small tree growing
to about 4cm tall and the leaves has a very strong lemon scented fragrant.
HISTORY AND ORIGIN
Lemon Verbena is new in the herbs
gardens, it was not known until it was brought over to England by the South
Americans. The Spanish used the leaves in the tea for refreshing and
it was thought to help relieved digestive problems.
BUYING AND STORAGE
Lemon Verbena is not available in the
supermarket but can only found through friends and family who grows them in
the garden. Put fresh branches in a vase of water.
PREPARATION AND USE
Leaves can be used in baked custards
and rice puddings but leaves must be removed when serving. When making
tea use only 6 dried leaves or 10 fresh leaves per cup of water.
