Honeydew melon comes in oval shape. The skin is clear, thick with a creamy-white
to creamy-yellow in colour. The flesh varies from pale to dark green and it consists of
white seeds.

Honeydew Melons comes from a varieties of Winter Melons and originate in Asia or
Africa. In early days, the melons are bitter but with the hybridization it became a sweet
fruit.
 | BUYING AND STORAGE
|
Select firm, fragrant Honeydew Melon. Also feel the weight of the melon, as it
will tells you whether it is well-flavoured or not for its size. The rind of the skin is
creamy coloured when ripe. Honeydew Melons can be store at room temperature for 1-2 weeks.
But once the melons has been cut, it must be wrapped in plastic and kept in the
refrigerator, and to be used within a few days.
 | PREPARATION AND USE

Cut honeydew melons in half and remove the seeds. Then cut them in wedges and
serve them fresh in hand. Honeydew melons can also be used in fruit platter and fruit
salads and many other desserts. These fruit can be pureed into drinks and sorbet.
